CleverChain has joined around 190 organisations in signing the European Commission’s Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, demonstrating its commitment to the responsible and transparent use of artificial intelligence.

Published by the European Commission, the first list of signatories brings together organisations from technology, telecommunications, education, retail and other sectors. It includes both established global companies and smaller, recently founded businesses, reflecting broad support for consistent transparency standards across the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem.

CleverChain is among the 82 organisations that have signed Section 1 of the Code, alongside prominent AI and technology companies including Anthropic, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral and OpenAI.

The participation of these organisations demonstrates a shared understanding of the importance of ensuring that AI-generated and manipulated content can be appropriately identified. It also highlights the value of a common framework that can support organisations of different sizes in meeting their regulatory responsibilities.

Developed by independent experts and assessed by the European Commission and the European AI Board, the Code sets out practical measures to help providers and deployers of generative AI systems comply with the transparency obligations established by the EU AI Act. According to the Commission, it provides signatories with a more streamlined, predictable and legally certain route to demonstrating compliance.

Section 1 focuses on the machine-readable marking and detection of AI-generated or manipulated content. This helps preserve information about the origin of content as it moves between platforms, systems and organisations.

For regulated institutions, this level of transparency is particularly important. AI-generated information may be downloaded, shared, incorporated into reports and used within due diligence or risk-assessment processes. Organisations therefore need controls that allow the origin of this information to remain identifiable, verifiable and explainable.

By signing the Code alongside some of the world’s leading AI companies, CleverChain is supporting the development of shared practices that promote public trust, reduce the risk of deception and strengthen accountability in the use of generative AI.

Signatories will also be invited to participate in European Commission task forces focused on sharing industry practices, providing feedback on transparency measures and supporting the effective implementation of the Code.
